Serenity – Purple Chocolate grew from the colour palette of the hair in the painting A Ray of Light. Shades of brown, reddish purple and soft golden yellow move across the surface, giving this version its name.

The closed eyes and peaceful face create a strong contrast with the rough, almost organic layers surrounding the girl. Up close, traces of colour appear between the folds and irregularities, allowing the sculpture to shift subtly with the light and from different viewpoints.

Within the Serenity series, each version captures the same moment of stillness, yet takes on a different presence through colour. In Purple Chocolate, that presence feels warmer and more earthy, with a subtle connection to the painting from which its palette originated.

The sculpture is cast in synthetic plaster with pigment, then further patinated with paint and finished with varnish.
