Helga Renders

Serenity – Soft Winter grew from the soft background and rays of light in the painting A Ray of Light. Grey and ultramarine blue are joined by subtle traces of orange, yellow and green, colours that appear within the light of the painting.

In the sculpture, these colours take on a different role. They move across the rough forms surrounding the girl and strengthen the contrast with her serene, closed face.

What exists as light and atmosphere around the figure in A Ray of Light becomes tangible here. Painting and sculpture remain connected, while each expresses that presence in its own way.

Material: synthetic plaster, patinated with highly pigmented acrylic paint and finished with varnish.
