Serenity – Sage grew from the colour palette of the painting A Ray of Light. Its soft green tones were drawn from the girl’s clothing and given a presence of their own in this sculpture.
Her closed eyes and peaceful face contrast with the rough, intuitively built forms surrounding her body. What was a detail of colour in the painting expands across the entire sculpture, shaping its atmosphere.
In this way, painting and sculpture become connected. Colour and light are translated into form, surface and shadow, while the same quiet, inward presence remains.
Material: synthetic plaster, patinated with highly pigmented acrylic paint and finished with varnish.
