Faces I Remember – Portrait Collection
This collection is a quiet tribute to faces that stayed with me - not for how they looked, but for how they felt. Each portrait holds a trace of emotion, of recognition, of something deeply human. A moment remembered, a presence felt.

Circus 1
2008In this artwork, two girls appear to act as both spectators and subjects of observation. The vibrant colors and expressive lines draw attention to the individuals who are fixated on an unknown spectacle taking place out of the viewer's sight. The partially abstracted faces suggest a mix of curiosity and astonishment as they gaze at the "circus" and at "you," with the dark background adding a sense of mystery and tension to the scene. The interaction between all figures and the invisible focal point reflects a play of watching and being watched, blurring the line between audience and performer.

Hello sunshine !
2020This work holds the way a teenager looks at the world, no longer innocent, not yet guarded. Everything is felt at full strength, as if light, emotion and meaning arrive all at once. There is awareness here, and still a fierce openness. The world is not new, but it is experienced without distance, without the ability, or desire, to soften its impact. Hello Sunshine speaks of that in-between gaze: where wonder meets self-consciousness, where brightness can overwhelm yet is welcomed anyway. It is about standing in the light, knowing it may reveal too much, and choosing presence over retreat.
Guinevere
2020Her gaze holds silence and memory — like light through old glass, fragile yet quietly strong.
Lockdown madness
2020There are moments when the world loses its logic. When safety and confusion exist at the same time, and the familiar suddenly feels fragile. This work comes from such a state. A place where boundaries dissolve, where emotions arrive unfiltered, raw, immediate, impossible to organise. It speaks of being thrown back to a primal awareness, of sensing everything at once, without the protection of distance or explanation. Joy, fear, freedom and unrest brush against each other. Lockdown Madness holds that in-between space. Not as an answer, but as a trace of what remains when certainty briefly disappears.
Absolution.

Aleppo
2018Aleppo, the refugees of today. We’ve seen it before. WWI, one million Belgians had fled to the Netherlands in fear of the Germans. In England, during WWII, big cities were bombed, so the children had to be evacuated tot the countryside without there parents. Boundaries. What does this mean in times of need and despair? Are we human? What if they were your children?
Nebula’s Dance
2017
While searching for another title for this painting, I stumbled upon the music piece by pianist Cyneburh, which somehow seemed to perfectly complement the artwork.
The Latin word ‘Nebula’ signifies mist or fog, where nebulas are the birthplaces of stars. In astronomy, it refers to gas clouds that can be icy cold. Nebula is also a genus of butterflies, symbolic of transformation.
With a poetic eye, all these elements can be found in this blue-tinted portrait. This inspired the new name ‘Nebula’s Dance’.
This artwork reveals the inner portrait of the realm of thought and the world of experiences, subtly extending towards the background and the fully painted sides. A clear dynamism is noticeable. On one hand, an endlessly rotating circle manifests itself, while on the other hand, fleeting moments escape like precious gemstones to various corners. The presence of the color blue enhances the emotional representation, like a hint of melancholy in the mist.
The 3D linen canvas is stretched on a wooden and aluminum frame. Ready to hang.

2010In this contemporary painting, the youthful essence of a girl is beautifully captured in vibrant colors and expressive brushstrokes. The girl's seated posture exudes a sense of relaxation and contemplation, while her striped clothing creates a playful contrast with the surrounding bright hues. 2011
It's a work about the peacock feathers. To overcome your fear of he past by looking into a mirror and what do you see? It can turn into a butterfly and just fly away...
