Soraya is an Arabic girl name of Persian origin.  The meaning is 'good queen' or 'princess'. It was the name of the second wife of the last shah of Iran.

While unmoulding the artwork, the artist has hurt her hand. Her blood at the work inspired her in the choice of the patina. The face of Soraya has remained white and is finished with a polish of wax, the rest of the portrait has been colored with pigments in wax.
